
Corbett
is a natural paradise rich in history and cultural heritage. Being the first
national park of India, established in 1936, it has a long tradition of
conservation.
Corbett National Park is the oldest National Park of
the Asia and Indias first Tiger Reserve. The National park symbolizes
the Corbett efforts at preserving our natural heritage. Spanning over 500
sq. Km. the park is situated along the banks of Ramganga river.
Location of Corbett National Park :
Corbett is located 86km from Nainital and 297km from Delhi. Situated at a
biogeographic conflux, Corbett National Park could be easily located at the
junction of two distinct hill regions of Uttaranchal - Garhwal and Kumaon.
Hence, the Park represents a fusion of cultures of both these mountain
areas.You have to make reservation for Lodging before entering the park.
Entry to the Corbett Tiger Reserve :
The entrance to Corbett National Park is strictly regulated and permits are
needed from the park administration in Ramnagar. For foreigners, the fees
are Rs 350 for the first three days at Dhikala and Rs. 75 for every
additional day. Charges for boarding and lodging are additional.

Jim Corbett :
Jim Corbett is a famous naturalist writer. His writings have excited
generations of wildlife enthusiasts and he have still earns respect amongst
the young naturalist for his work. The Government has made a museum at
Kaldhungi dedicated to the life of Jim Corbett.
Jim Corbett as a Tiger Reserve :
Popularly known for tigers, the reserve is named after Jim Corbett who was
the brain behind tiger preservation accomplished as the 'Project Tiger' in
India. As a visitor, you will also find leopards, some species of Deer,
rhesus and langur monkeys, ghariyals (crocodiles) and snakes.
Chirpy Birds :
The park is also blessed with exotic number of birds. It is easy to find
birds like Hornbills, mynas, parakeets, woodpeckers are in the park. The
park can be toured on an elephant or in a car or seen from a elevated
stationary watchtower. The park is closed during the monsoon seasons in
India that starts from May to October.
Surfing the Park :

Elephant
rides and jeep rides can be arranged once in Corbett National Park; private
vehicles and jeeps are also allowed. Elephant rides are the recommended way
to see the animals, the charges are Rs. 100 per person or Rs. 400 per
elephant for two hours.
Best Seasons :
The best seasons to visit Corbett National Park is between June 16 th till
November 14th. The Corbett National Park is out of bounds during the
monsoons- usually from about June 16th till November 14th. In the winter
months from December till February the Ramganga reservoir is full of
migratory birds. Generally, summer are considered the best season to view
wildlife, especially the tiger, that come out of the deep forests for water.
